CYLS distro!

Greetings from Washington DC. My semester is going great and I love it here!

Today has been such a good day, and I have great news for any people in America who would like to order our Quiet Steps’ 12″. As you may know, shipping worldwide from Norway is fucking horrible and expensive, so I’m very happy to announce that my favorite label in the world, Count Your Lucky Stars, now have it in their distro. Please check it out HERE, and check out their other amazing releases as well. If it sells, we’ll be able to send them even more of our stuff and maybe get a good deal for anyone in the US and countries nearby. When I return to Norway, we’ll have some CYLS records (Snowing and Empire! Empire!) in our distro.

We have loads of things in the planning, and we really love all the support we’ve been given lately. Keep it up, we’ll make it worth your while!

I love you all!
Henrik

New tape out now – Aske/Håp

Hey, guys!

Our new tape is out today! It’s a split between two new emo/screamo acts from Stavanger. Having grown up there, I have never up untill today heard any bands play screamo and sing in our dialect before. So naturally, this feels pretty huge to me. Aske delivers two really epic emotional 90s-inspired screamo songs, while HÅP gives us 4 songs in 4 minutes and have a more emo violence/Euro-skramz sound going on. Both bands show tremendous potential with these songs, and we’re really proud to be a part of releasing them. I’ve spent the summer sewing the pouches and making the inserts, which are all hand numbered. 50 were made, the tapes are pro dubbed. You’ll find them in our distro store.

Thanks for your support. Several releases are being planned as we speak.

Sunday League

I have a new favourite band. They’re called Sunday League, and we’ll be getting some copies of their EP for our distro soon. And most importantly; they named Listen To Aylin “Black Metal Emo”, which now means I’ll love them forever! Stay tuned for news on this.

Students

Hey,

I just wanted to post a quick entry about me and Chris. We’re both studying – Chris is currently getting his masters degree, I’m in the middle of getting my bachelor degree, and I’m telling you this because I know we suck at updating. Both the blog, the distro and the facebook page. Sorry for that. Chris has been in Houston for 3 months on an internship program, and when he returns, I’ll be going to Washington, D.C. for a internship program. So, as I’m sure you can understand, we’re both busy. But I want to assure you, we’re hard at work when it comes to new releases. I can’t tell you much yet, but we’ll probably put out three 7-inches and one tape during the fall of 2011. So stay put and excited if you like emo and/or pissed off hardcore. We’re also going to add a bunch of stuff to the distro when we get the time (hopefully some time this summer).

Love,
Henrik

The New & Very Welcome – Bouquet of Traffic Lights 7″

I’ve had the pleasure and privilege to listen to a bunch of bands over the years; getting into punk, emo, screamo, hardcore, indie and DIY when I was a kid has given me a lot of good times with people I never met, but still consider friends. But, one of the best experiences I’ve ever had was when I randomly browsed the The Saddest Landscape-blog about a year ago, and just saw the name The New & Very Welcome on one of the posts. I decided to check it out, and I’ve never been more captivated in my life.

It’s amazing how so little can do so much; An acoustic guitar and a voice. That’s it. An amazing voice, but still… I remember sitting up all night, just plowing through every single song on the bandcamp-site, and loving every one of them. I remember sending Jess a message on Myspace after the first song, saying “I gotta have this!”. But, stupid as I was, I forgot to include my e-mail and I never check my Myspace-account… Luckily, she’s a member of the Boston-branch of the Little Ladies Detective Agency, and she sent me an e-mail about the records she had in stock, and also flattering me about the Her Breath on Glass 6″ LTA put out.

A while later, I met up with Andy (Her Breath on Glass, The Saddest Landscape) at Cry Me A River Festival in Germany, and he told me that Jess was thinking of doing a TSL-cover record. I jumped on it at once (even though, he goes around telling people that he needed to talk me into it…).

And here we are; About a year later.

The record is done. The record is amazing. Andy and the rest of TSL did an amazing job creating these songs, Jess did an equally great one crafting them into something unique and personal. This, my friends, is THE 7″ that speaks to you. I haven’t heard anything like this in a long, long time, and still it’s so familiar. Like a friend you haven’t seen in years, but know everything about. Like the book/ record/ movie you know by heart, and remember every single detail after 2seconds, but you can’t put it away.

This is truly a work of art; This is an extremely personal interpretation of songs that are extremely personal thoughts; This is The New & Very Welcome – Bouquet of Traffic Lights.

Tracklisting:

1. We Wanted The Sky
2. Statue Of A Girl (May 15th)
